Justice Devil Triumphs on the Film Festival Circuit

Singapore — Justice Devil, a long-delayed vigilante thriller from Singapore, is finally seeing the light of day—and taking the international film festival circuit by storm.

Ris Low gained national attention as Miss World Singapore 2009. Her reign ended when past credit card fraud convictions surfaced, but she remained in the spotlight with her viral catchphrase "boomz". She later embraced acting, starring in Justice Devil, a Singapore vigilante thriller that never released—until now.

Ris Low’s Acting Recognition.

Ris Low’s portrayal of Ellen in Justice Devil earned her two acting awards, recognizing her harrowing yet gripping performance as a mother on a relentless quest for justice. Her work in the film was honored by international judges from across the globe:

  • Best Actress – Hollywood Blood Horror Festival (Los Angeles, USA)
  • Lead Actress Honorable Mention (Feature Film) – South Film and Arts Academy Festival (Rancagua, Chile)

Her performance brought raw intensity and emotional depth to the role, earning her recognition on the international stage.

Overcoming Production Challenges: A 12-Year Journey

The film’s delayed release stemmed from two pivotal challenges:

Post-Production Challenges with Early Digital Cinema Technology

Justice Devil was filmed using the RED ONE Digital Cinema Camera, the same high-quality system used by legendary filmmakers like Peter Jackson. However, a decade ago, post-production tools were not advanced enough to fully process the raw footage. The initial post-production output only retained half the camera’s quality, resulting in visuals that did not meet the director’s expectations. High-end post-production at the time was prohibitively expensive and required significant processing power.

Apple’s M4 Chip: A Game-Changer for Justice Devil

The completion of Justice Devil after a 12-year delay was made possible by Apple’s revolutionary M4 chip, which redefined the film's post-production process.

The breakthrough came with the M4 chip, whose cutting-edge AI-powered rendering capabilities allowed for a complete overhaul of the film's post-production. This advancement enabled the film’s visuals to finally reach their intended quality.

Director Harva Raj credits the M4 chip for making this possible, helping Justice Devil achieve its full cinematic potential.

“The M4’s advanced capabilities allowed us to unlock the true potential of our footage, bringing it to life in a way that was previously impossible.”
– Harva Raj, Director & Composer

The final version of the film, now fully realized, was submitted to festivals, where it garnered overwhelming acclaim.

A New Original Score by the Film’s Director

When Justice Devil was first completed, it relied on royalty-free music. While this was acceptable for local distribution, it posed challenges for wider international releases and commercial sales. Director Harva Raj took it upon himself to address this by assuming the role of film composer. Over the years, he studied music composition, wrote original songs, and crafted an entirely new background score for the film.

Harva Raj’s work on Justice Devil’s music score received critical acclaim, earning him the Best Original Score award at the Miami International Gold Awards and the Best Music Director award at the Indie Cine Tube Awards. He was also nominated for Best Original Score at the South East Academy International Film Festival in Manila, Philippines. These honors reflect how the additional time invested led to meaningful artistic growth and a marked improvement in the overall quality of the work.

His work also earned him Best First-Time Director at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival (Los Angeles, USA), Best Young Director at the Liberty Films Festival (Athens,Greece) and Best Emerging Filmmaker at the International Motion Picture Awards (Ontario, Canada), further showcasing his talent in both filmmaking and music composition.
